Sikkim Darjeeling Kalimpong
Although Sikkim is the second smallest state of India with total area of barely 7,096 sq kilometers yet it spans elevation ranging from 300 meters to 8585 meters above sea level. It's Geography is dominated by the most majestic mountain chain in the world which includes the Khangchendzonga... Darjeeling “The Queen of the Hills” is the only hill district in the state of West Bengal. Because of its topography, Darjeeling has all types of vegetation, from alpine forests in the higher altitudes to tropical forest in the lower altitudes. Darjeeling shares its border with Bhutan in the East, Nepal in the West and Sikkim... Kalimpong was part of Sikkim till about 1700 AD, when Sikkim was overrun by the Bhutanese army. In 1707, the Sikkimese army under Chogyel Choder Namgyel were able to repulse the Bhutanese army from Sikkim. However Kalimpong and the Doars remained under the Bhutanese Government.
